.....1984 seals our fate....the coveted seat in the Premier Patna Medical College.....a but natural consequence of a walk on a well laid out path long established frm an equally high altar of a college of Science : The Science College Patna.....a meeting point of sharp young Scientific minds......straight frm the School these brains wud definitely antigenise u to higher goals willing or unwilling......The Patna Science College of early eighties was awe inspiring with the best oozing al around.....The BCE(Bihar College of Engg.) to its Left & The Patna College and Medical College to the right , it was one seat of an opportunity of an excellence to be generated in its ambient atmosphere nd delivered with a telling blow on ur competitors nd peers .....such was the striving for excellence in competition ....the hall mark of a nursery for future sparring acts......hence, sooner or later I had to percolate frm Patna Science College to Patna Medical College & my parents were happy....& I was lucky as I was destined to hv a brush with the"The Last of the Doyens" of this haloed institution....!!
.......in as much as we used to hungrily stare at the College Gates in our late nite tours of Ashok Rajpath as intermediate students of Science College, to partake delicious Bread & Omlette being prepared outside the Medical college gate 24x7..... in awe, to see the white coat clad interns, students, as we lapped up both the snack & the sight of our future....the first day step into the College on Admission Day settled the score......"firmly in" was the thought, " Koi Nahi Hila Sakta"(Can't be dislodged was the refrain )....as.....to be in the first 50 in the whole State was the steep askance.......Gud Lord was Kind as the "Last of The Doyen's " were very much thr in tht cutting edge of an atmosphere ,as teachers & Gurus par excellence , all in their final leg of their tremendous Repute as Teachers & Service providers to the teeming populace of Bihar.....!!!!...carrying on even a greater legacy of their own predecessors, to which they were initially exposed.....!!!!....as the days rolled on , I was swept, by a volley of Fireworks provided by our Teachers & equally tenacious Peers, who left no stones unturned to make you humble, with their constant stellar performances.....Prof Swain & PC Prasad of Anatomy were hard task masters,Prof MN Verma of Physiology & Prof KP Sinha & Prof Indu Sinha of Biochemistry made us learn the basics with ease , generating lots of enthusiasm....the 2nd Professional of the Pathology ,duo , of Prof BB Verma & Prof TCP verma was unparallel & always lit the LTs(Lecture Theatres) on Fire with packed houses, with Hematologist Prof SB Pandey clinically finishing a dull subject always with his charming churning of numbers & Datas ....at ease....Capt Atma Prakash of Pharma....Guruji of SPM & a Prof RN Singh of FMT(Forensic Medicine & Toxicology) who, knew their subjects too well nd their students too....!!!!...they were real popular & much talked abt....!!!!....but the best was yet to be delivered.....at the stroke of the 2nd bell....as CKN(Prof CK Narayan) wud inhale the last puff of his Cigarette, before extinguishing the stub & entering the LT in clock like precision, delivering an oratory of Clinical Internal Medicine so lucid & acceptable....wht a teacher....one of the "last of the Doyens"...nd not too left behind with equally dazzling performances in Internal Medicine was of Prof GP Sinha, Prof GS
singh,& Prof. SK Didwania.....Inspiring , forceful nd an example .....so , whn Prof SN Arya & Prof CP Thakur wud turn up as Prof Emeritus there was no space in the LTs......Lucky we heard thm....nd Lucky we heard some real sterling performance by Asstt. Professors Dr Vijay Prakash & Dr Ajay Kumar.....in rapt attention in the Wards...!!!
.....Can the Deptt of Surgery be far behind...?......Immortalised in Memory is Prof A A Hai & Prof Narendra Prasad .....!!!!...Hai Sahab was role model.....I learnt how to Auscultate a Female patient with her full dignity intact, frm him.... as he wud ensure spreading the fine dupatta gently & thr after auscultate over it..........such sensitivity
can only be achieved by True knowledge of ur faculty.....Prof Shanti Roy ma'am , Renu Sinha& Shakuntala Sharan were epitome of graceful professionalism with an extreme kindheartedness, not to spk of Prof Shanti Singh, who were excellent teachers, backed up by their equally illustrious juniors of Dr Jyoti Sinha & Dr Usha Didwania ....in tht we learnt Obs & Gynae with ease .....Prof Brijlall ,Prof SK Prasad ,& a superb , dashing , superlative Resident in Dr Arun Sinha son of the Illustrious ENT surgeon Achchutanand Sinha, guided us.....Prof Brijlall was close, as he was our Hostel supdtt. & Prof SK Prasad as our Guide as we young Rotractors of Patna Rotary holding meeting regularly in Hotel Patliputra....Prof PC Gupta of Opthalmology ....I never missed his class...he made us learn Opthalmology like cake walk.....Such was the good Luck I was subjected to in a span of 8 long yrs in the making of The Service provider of the humanity, in different locales , now serving in a distant land.......Owe all my Confidence to this setting, by the "Last of The Doyens of Patna Medical College" & to the environment provided by my equally illustrious Seniors, colleagues & peers ....!!!!....as human Memory Fails , apologise for anything tht I might hv missed inadvertantly....a huge salute .....!!!!
