......as Male' is shrinking for  want  of space  & a teeming  populace  .....the satellite township  of Hulhumale'  holds  lot of  hope ....well  laid modernly  with  dwelling  units  , common  areas  ,  &  a  reclamation  of  Phase  II , ...... near  the  International  airport ......it  has some  truly  prospective  future .....no  wonder  last  couple  of  yrs  a  spate  of activity  is  witnessed  therein ......home  to  professional  Expats  &  Locals &  a 10  mt  speed  Boat  ride  frm  the Capital  Male ' , Hulhumale ' is  the City  to  be watched  for  ......Good  news  is  Shwack Cinema  will  operate soon  thr  with a  brand new  theatre  much  to  the  relief  of  the  residents  ......The  strategically  located  Quartet  of  Islands  of  Male' , Vilimale' , Hulhule (Airport Island ) & Hulhumale ' r complementary  to  each  other nd  a host  many  developmental  projects  r  on ......the  biggest  being  the  ambitious  project  of  a  Road  Bridge  over  the  sea  linking  Capital  Male '  to  the International  Airport , wrk  for  which  is  in  full  swing  now  ........this  particular  bridge  1.2  km  nearly will  be  a  breath taking  drive  over  the Indian Ocean ...a platform  is  erected  at Male'  end  for  the Kids  to  hv a look thru  a  telescope ,  at  the Construction &  Evolution  of  a massive  bridge  ....!!!!

.....the Comments  posted  Postscript in TOI hv some insight truly &  side  by side some blatant disregard  to  norms  & ethics ...wonder  why  the  esteemed  Newspaper do  not practice moderation  of comments .....filthy  language sometimes creep  in  to  these  comments ....wonder  wht  if  the  Children  happen  to see  it  ......not to spk  of the bad blood  generated  amongst  communities ......wonder  why  people  hv  to  resort  to  such  whimsical utterances in  a reputed forum  of  news analysis  ,  post  script .......if  unbridled  freedom  is  wht we  r  looking  forward  ,  it  will  just  hasten anarchy .......& chaos  is to  follow ....it  seems  its  too  much  time  now  being  spent  on  practising  & professing  one's  rights irresponsibly......the  heterogeneity of our  society & its  constant evolution hv  to  be  always  kept  in  mind before painting  anything  Black  & White ....tht  I am Rt  &  you  r  wrong is  a matter  of perspective as  seen  by the individual who  hv  evolved  differently & your "Rt"  is  my  "Wrong"  .....Post  1947 we  hv  still  not  learnt  our  lessons  .....wherein  a  foreign  power  was able  to  truncate our  limbs.....divide  us  , exploiting  our  inherent  weakness .....the  friction  is generating  heat  now  & mark  my  Words ....its  not  far  , tht  this  destructive  heat will  hv  its spillage  with  catastrophic  effects  ....

.....Tru an Identity  is  a  must have  ....but  to  cling  to  it irreversibly is a recipe for  a stunted  growth.....obsessed  now  to  the  point  of  ridicule .....thr  is  a  sharp  tendency now of calling & identifying with  something perceivably  ur  own nd  disowning  others ....Liberty  doesn't warrant  such  constricted  definition in  a  myopic vision ......defend  urself  &  Ur  ideas  &  beliefs  but  not by  exterminating  others nd  their  thoughts  &  thr  beliefs .....rather  Defend  urself & Defend  others too.....tht needs  accommodation .....Accomodation  leads  to  a  truly  Liberated  state  of  mind  of peace & tranquil.....no  wonder  why  &  how  this tranquil  is  lost  as  borders  r shrinking  , Communities  involuting   &  Societies  Wilting ......for  want  of  it ......
in  the  modern  times ..... 

 

.....Its Hot in Paradise ...

....its  hot  in  Paradise....as Apr mercury  indicate ...the  Clinic bursting to  the seams ....not untouched , as  last  72  hrs  of  bodily  pain  &  headache .....but  the  show  must  go  on  come  wht  may .....though  today  had to  curtail the  Morn session ....the  intense  bodily  pain  was  necessary , as  a  fair amt  of  idea of  the  plight  of my   pts , is  being  felt ....U  can't  realize  the  pain  suffered   by  others , til  ur  subjected .....epitome  of Confidence  , Grace  &  Strong Service  provider ,  thts wht  my pts  expect  day  in  day  out  ....thts  wht  I hv  to live  upto  their  expectations .......the  human  angle  gets obliterated as  he  is nothing  but invincible ...as  the "Bali"( ailment ) engulf  me, its  a  fine  ,  tight  rope  walk   now  ....how  vulnerable & how  invincible  is  the  Chair of  the  Service  Provider ....!!!.....despite repeated  restless  nites  now ,  barely  able to   take  a  Taxi .....yet  the  happiness  of  collapsing  into  ur  clinic chair  is  unfathomable  .....such  is  the  Joy  of  being  the Service  Provider ......!!!!

....On the way back home....!!!

 ....trudging  back home pensively after  a brisk  duel with  a  host  many  ailments  of  the  Morn Clinic.....a  smart shower  catching  up  unawares & a  quick  refuge  to the National  Library....a  sigh of relief as  the  ice  cold  AC environs  dry me up fast & onto the  familiar  corridors  of  Learning....the  Bright spot  of  the  Capital...a  refuge of  "Liberty"..!!!...as  if  "Patriots" by  Languuth wudn't  easily  move  away  frm  the  mental  frame.....a  quick  search &  a rendezvous with  Prof Eric Foner....not  to  be undone by  the  literally  Weighty  option of "Give me  Liberty"....thanked  the  rain &  the Refuge, which yielded  such  Stupendous  result .....!!!...1492 AD not  so  long ago  in Human  History ....Columbus &  his Discovery opens  the  flood gates  to  the New  world ....first  few chapters  &  I am cleanly  bowled....lock , stock  & barrel.....as the  story  unfolds  of  the Discovery  of  the  New  world....happy  days  r  truly  here  to  stay  for  some  time  ....the  Children  r  amused as  the weight of  the book  forces  me  to  adopt  a high school  posture as  compared  to  recently  laid  back  options  with  past  treatise....Can't  help  it...though  in this modern era  of  "Kindle"....traditional way  of  book  reading  is  still  a  joy  for  me  ....!!!!

.....the City  is back  to  near  normal....thank  the  Gud  Lord ....!!!!.....with  school attendance swelling ....vaccines   now easy  to  get....learning experience  for  the  modern  gentry  , until  recently ,hitherto  unexposed....;......with the  Hospital 25th Anniversary a runaway  success .....thr  r  reasons to  be satisfied this Friday  Holiday...with  a  sharp downpour  &  strong  winds   today  it  was  as  if business  as   normal....with  Siesta  time reading  a  brisk  affair now  with  Little Nanu  as  Papa's  reading mate  with  a  primary  Children  Encyclopedia....finally, the action  around the Sasquehanna   river  in PA ,a  decisive  battle  near  Albany as  Gen  Horatio Gates brings an  epic surrender  of British  troops  by  the  Continental  Army ....with  Gen  George Washington  retreating  frm  Philadelphia frm the  assault  of Gen  Howe of the British  Red  Coats ....the  surrender  effected  by Gates comes  as  a boon .....for  the Continental  Army ....finally the Mist &a haze over New England lifts off.....as Langguth  captures it so  vividly  in  the "Patriots"....the  narrative of  the American  War  of Independence as  free  flowing as  her  rivers  ....!!!....Lord Cornwallis  in  action too , who later on  succeeded  Hastings   in the Indies....the  Irony more  starkly  laid  before  me  as America  gain independence  frm  Britain   &  We  lose  ours at  the same  time with the East India  Company  tightening its  grip over India.....The Patriots  , The Militia , The Continental army .....no  rank outsider  like  me  can  Opine  abt the Gun Culture , now I  realize ,  as it  is a venerated  American  thought
intimately linked to  their Legacy  of "Liberty".....!!!!

SILVER  JUBILEE Function AMDC March  31^st   2017

Respected Chairman  Sir, Hon’ble Directors,  Sr  consultant Dr  Azeez , Chief  Executive , Esteemed Colleagues &  Doctors ,Members  of  the staff, Dignitaries  &  dear  friends ……It  gives  me  immense pleasure  to  address you all , on  the  auspicious Occasion of  Silver  Jubilee Anniversary  of  AMDC, one  of  the  early  leaders in  the  Pvt  sector as pioneer  to  the Health   Care  Industry of  Maldives.

From a  modest  &  Humble  begining  AMDC is now a premier  Health  care  provider in the Isles . My decade  long association  is  testimony  to  the  fact that steadily  we  have  been  winning  the  Trust  of  people  as  Service  providers .

I am glad  to  inform you all that  this yr  also  is  my  Silver  Jubilee Yr of Clinical Practice &  this  Coincidence  gives   me   immense   pleasure . My  decade  long  association  with  AMDC  &  Maldives  is  very  close   to   heart . My wife  & kids  hv  been  thoroughly  supportive &  needless to  say  the  Maldives  Sun &  Sea hv  touched  us  abundantly.  Having  left a  plush  life in  the  National  capital  region  Delhi  more  than  a  decade  ago &  voluntarily  castaway in  a  Robinson  crusoe  Island  in Laam  atoll , with  a  huge  moon  in sight  thru  the  windows of an Island aviation  Plane , & a sleepy  Island  underneath which  wud  be   our   home for  a couple  of  yrs , never  did  I  think  I  will be  blessed with  the   pristine  blu  waters   ,  the  Coconut  groves   &  white  sandy   beach…..for  a  long   long  time   to   come  …..far  far  away  frm  the  Indian  mainland , away  from  Friends  &  extended Fmly , with  wife  & daughter  in   tow  we  imbibed   the  Island  Life as an  original  first  hand  experience …..Mr  chairman  sir  Dhivehi  Miroos  is  one  of the  most  imflammable  commodity  on  planet  Earth nd  we  failed  miserably  coping  with  it  in  tht  an  Old  lady  of  a locality    called  Kurigam wud invariably  provide  the  Long  Indian variety a v v rare  commodity  in  the Island  …..at    the  end  of  the  Morn  OPd  she  wud provide  me  daily  fresh  10   to  12  pcs of  the rarity  at steep price of   25  laari  apiece  tht  was  11  yrs  ago …..my  wife  utilized  the  rare  commodity   judiciously  &  I  never  threw  a half eaten  chilly  come  wht  may …..I  either  had  to  eat  it   or  save  it  for   the  evening …..tht  practice  went  so  deep  in  our  hearts  tht  till  date   though  in  abundance  here  I  wud  save  a  half  eaten  chilly  …..in  adversity  we  learnt  how  to  brace  up  ,  keep  ur  chin  up   nd  act  judiciously …. Taking  care  of   the   Island  populace  , Old ,  &  young  alike  &  in  close  touch  with  the   other  Islands   linked  by Causeways …… a General  practice  Portfolio far  far  challenging  &  satisfying …. A  B 323  Mazzda  Car  worth  only  20 000 Ruffiya , whose  one side  power  window  wont go  down  permanently  kept  us  happy  exploring  the adjoining  Islands ….reminding  us   of  value  of  things  & not  taking  anything for  granted ……and   making    us   better   human  beings ……..as    Senior  sister Alice , talked  day  in  &  day  out abt  her old  organization  called  AMDC  in  glowing  terms  ,  it  was   not  far   tht  fate  wud   draw   me   to  AMDC …….I  am glad  I landed  here  armed  with  my  Cherished  island  experience ,  for  rendering  humble  service  to my  pts .

Trust  is  the   keystone  for  all  human  endeavor , more  so  Medical  practice …..as   you  touch  Ur   pt  a  huge  Trust is   reposed   on  you ….its  a  tough   call  to   live   up  to  expectations ……but   Practice  Makes   a man perfect …..I  thank  my  Organisation   to  hv  provided   me an opportunity  to   serve   the   people …..let  the  age   old  practice   of  Professionalism  , Care  &  Integrity   towards the  profession   dominate ….let  us raise   the   bar  of  providing   all the   Services   Humanely  &  with  Utmost  Patience  &  ever  smilingly ……
